Pickering Nuclear Refurbishment Program
The Pickering Refurbishment Program (PRP) represents a $26.84 billion multi-year, multi-phase program implemented by OPG to replace or rehabilitate critical components and complete upgrades to extend the life of Pickering Units 5-8 by an expected 38 additional years. In advance of OPG executing the PRP, Pegasus-Global was retained to perform a readiness assessment of OPG’s pre-execution planning and execution readiness. The pre-execution planning assessment focused on the development of the PRP’s baseline schedule and cost estimate, the initial contracting strategy applied on the Program, and the incorporation of lessons learned into the planning process. While the execution readiness examined the Program’s governance structure, contract management, project controls, and ongoing lessons learned initiatives.
Pegasus-Global’s readiness assessment of the PRP is publicly filed with the Ontario Energy Board (OEB) under Docket # EB-2025-0297.
